The latest and greatest from Sweden is the new Impact M4 Compact. Based on the versatile Impact platform, this version has a 500mm barrel, making the overall length just 25″, and a 300cc carbon fiber bottle. With a 250 BAR fill, the Impact Compact is capable of 150 shots in .177, 110 shots in .22 cal, 70 shots in .25 cal, and 30 shots in .30 cal. You can expect anywhere between 25 and 80 FPE, depending on caliber, which is enough for small to medium game hunting. The Impact Compact achieves these numbers by utilizing the new FX Power Plenum 750, which is included, that increases the firing chamber volume to a whopping 75cc. The Impact M4 also offers the rear Power Block, so those looking to make the most of the power potential for shooting slugs can do so with ease. The remaining features are all standard on the Impact, those include the AMP MKII regulator, external hammer spring adjustment, and adjustable valve control. The Smooth Twist X Superior barrel liner makes this powerful compact deadly accurate!
Swedish manufacturer FX Airguns continues to turn out new models, blending power and accuracy into a very small package with the new Impact M4 Compact! Featuring a 500mm barrel and an overall length of just 25″, the Compact only comes up short in one area, and that’s the length! A stubby 300cc removable carbon fiber bottle is the only other departure from the standard Impact, and still provides a solid shot count despite the small size.
From a 250 BAR fill, you can expect up to 150 shots in .177, 110 shots in .22, 70 shots in .25 and 30 shots in .30 caliber. With plenty of energy to accompany those shot counts, you can expect up to 25 FPE in .177, 45 FPE in .22, 60 FPE in .25 and a whopping 80 FPE in .30! Long time fans and followers of the Impact platform may recall that early versions of the standard size rifle produced about those same specs, with a longer barrel and larger air cylinder. FX is able to achieve this impressive stat line thanks to the power plenum 750! Adding 75cc of firing chamber volume and new valving allows for these impressive numbers that simply couldn’t be achieved before this innovation.
This is also due, in part, to the rear Power Block. While the power plenum stages the power capabilities of the FX Impact, the rear block handles that transfer of power much like a car’s carburetor. FX redesigned the rear block and the valve housing which allows for better airflow, efficiency, and power potential. The Power Block will be especially useful for those who desire to shoot heavy slugs. Those shooting heavy slugs are encouraged to add the FX Impact Tungsten Hammer weight to also allow for higher working pressures.
Of course, the rest of the rifle packs all the innovation the Impact is known for. This includes the AMP MKII regulator, external hammer spring adjustment and valve control. Otherwise known as the new Quick Tune System, this easy-to-adjust system is unlike any other on the market! The Compact still utilizes the Smooth Twist X Superior barrel liner system, which has proven to be astonishingly accurate. This means you can easily change out calibers and liners. You can even turn your Impact Compact into a standard size Impact if you so desire. The possibilities are truly endless with this platform!
This FX Impact M4 Compact – Black is the fourth generation of what by now must be the most successful all-round PCP of all time. This ultra-accurate and multi-adjustable PCP air rifle has a modular base, making it suitable for virtually every shooting discipline. From benchrest to hunting and everything in between.
Compared to the previous model, the Impact M3, some radical and some more subtle changes have been made to bring the FX Impact M4 to yet a higher level while also improving usability. We’ll guide you through the most important features and changes. A so-called FX Impact M3 versus FX Impact M4.
The Dual Regulator system has made room for a single AMP MKIII regulator with a brass piston. With that, it’s stronger and more consistent, with a higher refill flow thrown in too. Besides that, this single regulator is more than capable of withstanding high working pressures up to an impressive 170 bar (2500 psi). Note that working pressure is something different than filling pressure, with the latter being 250 bar (3600 psi). The regulator can be adjusted with a screw at the rear of the trigger inside the trigger guard.
The FX Impact M4 Compact – Black has a revisited top plate. The plate is thicker, which gives more rigidity to the whole air rifle, and it now features a dovetail rail that allows you to slide the 30 MOA Picatinny rail exactly there where you want it. That Picatinny rail has become slightly longer too, giving you even more freedom in mounting. The forward tilt of the rail with 30 MOA, will offer you a broader adjustment range on the rifle scope if used on long distances.
In every aspect, the complete trigger unit is new. As the FX Impact M4 Compact – Black is such a universal platform, FX has been looking at what was needed to make the trigger adjustable and refined in such a way, that it would suit all types of shooting. When hunting, you’d like a predictable long stage while in sport shooting, you’ll prefer a featherweight trigger with a refined glass-like breaking point. With the Quick Set Trigger, all it takes to change between these two is to adjust a single screw. Besides that, you can reposition the whole trigger unit, setting it further or closer. And both stages are adjustable, while the trigger blade is adjustable in height and rotation.
With a regulated 75 cc air buffer, the FX Impact M4 Compact – Black has plenty of air at the ready behind the valve to deliver plenty of power. Enough to give even the heaviest slugs the perfect velocity. The large capacity of the plenum also allows for a lower regulator pressure than would be the case with a smaller plenum.
The FX Impact has always been known to be adjustable on many levels. So it comes as no surprise that the FX Impact M4 Compact – Black can be finetuned left, right and center. We’ve already pointed out the adjustable regulator, but that’s not the extend of this rifle’s adjustability by far. With the power knob on the front, just above the air reservoir inlet, you can adjust the preload of the valve spring. When turning anti-clockwise, indication rings appear and the more rings you see, the more air will be let through.
